Melasma

Melasma is a pigmentary disorder that classically affects sun-exposed skin.

While women are more often affected, men can develop the condition as well.

Melasma is most often seen in individuals with darker complexion.

While the pathophysiology is not entirely understood, pregnancy, medications, and sunlight can all exacerbate melasma.

Treatment options include creams, oral medications, chemical peels, and lasers devices.
